195AcknowledgementsMarijn and Sumit and continues with Daniel, Olga, Andra, and Edwin – have been a significant source of support. A special thanks to Eduardo – I really enjoyed our above-the-monitors conversations, typically starting with a ‘hmm…’ accompanied by an attempt to make eye contact. You were my partner-in-crime in the study of visuals in policy controversies, and you are a great companion for sharing ideas, perspectives, and also frustration about almost anything.I feel lucky to be surrounded by an inspiring group of people spread over (at least) two continents. Thank you, Israeli friends, for maintaining long-distance relationships, which are very meaningful to me. A chat in Hebrew, with mutual observations and warm word exchange, can turn a disastrous day into a delightful one. Huge thanks to Raz for offering great language-editing help and for simply being part of my life. Thank you also to my growing Dutch friend network for gradually becoming a more and more significant part of my world. A big shoutout to Petra and Lian for being there for me as paranymphs and in life in general, together with their significant others.I am filled with gratitude for Miri and Yossi, my parents, who cultivated the foundation of the present ‘me’ and never stopped providing unconditional love and support. Idit and Yael, my sisters, what would I have done without you? Thank you for helping with different tasks, offering words of wisdom, and giving me the feeling that you have my back no matter what. Ido, my much-loved son, thank you for the continuous unconscious teaching of putting things in perspective and setting priorities right. Sitting at the desk is only one way of making progress, and your assertive demand from me to let go of whatever is it that I’m doing and to simply be with you has benefited my project and general well-being. Last in line, but definitely not in significance, mega thanks to you, Mosh. My love, you are my unwavering support system, believing in my strength and competence no matter what I choose. We have come a long way since chatting about the idea of moving to a foreign country for my PhD, on our balcony in Karkur. Thank you for walking this path with me – for wiping away my tears, offering your nurturing presence, and celebrating my achievements and wins. I love you.Efrat.indd 195 19-09-2023 09:47
