Chapter 354Overall, the results in this report suggest that preinjection LLLT - at least administered according to the parameters depicted by in this study - did not effectively reduce the pain sensation associated with local anesthetic injection among patients undergoing third molar extractions. Further studies are warranted to provide definitive conclusions regarding the utility of LLLT for acute pain sensory modulation in routine dental scenarios. ConclusionsLLLT did not effectively decrease the pain felt during local anesthetic injections prior to third molar surgery. The presently analyzed datasets showed no indication that LLLT had analgesic effects that blunted pain sensation.
