Chapter 2342.17 was given for experienced injection pain on an 11-point rating scale. Eight patients (12.1%) had experienced pain scores in the range of 7-10, but their physiological response did not significantly differ from that of patients who had experienced pain scores <7.ConclusionAs in earlier studies, the mean score of experienced pain was lower than expected pain. We found a significant increase in mean sweat secretion and a significant decrease in mean RSP between the relax-phase and the injection phase, but no significant difference in the physiological response between patients who experienced high or low pain.
