General introduction 331care. Chapter 4 delves into the exploration of implementation interventions, or actions, undertaken during the MDET trial conducted by Schippers (2019). The aim was to unravel how these implementation interventions may influence social mechanisms within implementation processes and to identify those actions that may be effective in the context of intellectual disability care. Chapter 5 examines the impact of care professionals%u2019 collaboration in a Community of Practice, in which implementation plans were drafted using the ItFits toolkit (Vis et al., 2023), to implement the e-tool Needs Assessment Framework. Using this toolkit and participating in the Community of Practice was evaluated. In addition, care staff%u2019s awareness concerning clients%u2019 perspectives on involuntary care was measured before and after implementation interventions were executed. Chapter 6 describes a multi-method study examining adaptations to the MDET method during implementation in four organisations and weekly involuntary care recordings during this implementation period to evaluate the effectiveness of the adapted MDET method. Finally, in Chapter 7, the general discussion summarises the results and insights gained in these studies regarding implementation in intellectual disability care, and specifically for methods that reduce involuntary care. Furthermore, strengths, limitations, and implications for future research, policy, and practice are discussed.
