General discussion2199attraction-filter that is reflected in cognitive biases towards mate-relevant traits, a better understanding of the link between such biases and actual mate choice remains of pivotal importance. Furthermore, future studies should employ test paradigms that tap into different cognitive processes, and consider incorporating non-invasive measures of physiology. This could help to elucidate the valence underlying cognitive biases that might be functional in a mate choice context. Finally, although current paradigms might not yet be suitable for testing attraction on an individual basis, future studies can use the findings and recommendations from this thesis to work toward the goal of identifying individual mate preferences.Tom Roth.indd 219 08-01-2024 10:42
