Cornelia. Her en der de uitdaging met wat langdradige teksten. Je constructieve feedback, je altijd scherpe blik, je stond altijd achter me, gaf dat duwtje wanneer dat nodig was, of aan mij, of aan een van de vele mensen waarmee we in de afgelopen jaren hebben samengewerkt. En het waren me de zes jaar wel, zes jaar woordspelingen, in het begin moet het heerlijk geweest zijn dat je nog Nederlands aan het leren was. Wat niet weet, wat niet deert. De perfecte harmonie in HG02.027 met sommige collega’s maakte dat alleen maar beter. Proost, op een geweldige samenwerking met een uitkomst waar we volgens mij wel tevreden mee kunnen zijn.
I started my PhD project in collaboration with the University of New South Wales in Australia. Mike Manefield, Sabrina Beckmann, thanks to you both for the very fruitful joint effort. And extra special, since this resulted in my first written and published paper. Caroline, dank voor de vruchtbare samenwerkingen, onder andere op het spookmicroben-verhaal en ook de vele interessante discussies op verscheidene meetings en conferenties.
Then there is the VU with all those interesting cores. Han Dolman, de start van een essentiële en voortdurende samenwerking met sedimenten uit noordelijke smeltmeren. With Ove, NESSC buddy, the core supplier, where would I even be without your generous donation of mud? I won’t start thinking about that. Field trips to Amsterdam, beers after all the exhausting work. I know emails are not your favorite, so here I will have a huge thank you on paper for all the work together as friends and colleagues. Josh, the source of great ideas, plans, a motivational talk, constructive feedback, I still remember your awesome presentations at the several NESSC days we went to. I’m happy we’re still in touch with interesting studies on e.g. Amsterdam canals. Good luck teaching the students in Liverpool. Tanya, just a bit later we got to talk about the North Sea, such an interesting ecosystem, and interest became collaboration.
