As a final thought, this study has important practical implications for those who strive to change academic evaluation and reduce the inequalities in the application of criteria. Their interventions should not only target members of selection committees to change their evaluation practices, but take into account how these practices at the micro-level are shaped by macro-discourses and organisational policies.
