Curriculum vitae
Simone Hashimoto was born on the 16th of May 1975 in Batatais, Brazil. She started her medical training at the University of São Paulo Medical School in 1993 and received her medical degree in December 1999. In 2003 she got her specialization as a paediatric pulmonologist at the Children’s Institute of University of São Paulo (HC-FMUSP). Meanwhile she also performed research activities as president of the Academic Asthma League in the academic hospital (HC-FMUSP) and as member of an asthma research group (NAPA group) at the INCOR, HC-FMUSP.
In 2006 she got an international scholarship (Coimbra Group Scholarship) and had the opportunity to stay three months at the Pulmonology department of LUMC to expand her research experience. This resulted in an invitation to start a research fellowship at the Department of Respiratory Medicine of the Amsterdam University Medical Center supervised by Professor Elisabeth Bel and Professor Peter Sterk. Since 2007 she has been involved in several studies related to asthma and wheezing, including the studies reported at this thesis.
In January 2018 she also got a position at the Paediatric Pulmonology department of the Emma Kinderziekenhuis, Amsterdam-UMC to work as a medical researcher and keep the collaboration between the adults and paediatric respiratory departments. Simone lives in Voorschoten together with Heiko and their two daughters Luciana (2010) and Stella (2013).
