Footnote table 2: a Adherence was defined as the number of values in the FeNO memory card compared to the number of expected entries in the study website. b Reliability was defined as the proportion of correctly self-reported FeNO values compared to the number of expected entries in the study website. c Missing values: expected entries with no FeNO measured. d Self-invented values: self-reported FeNO values without a correspondent value in the memory card on the same day. e Forgotten values: FeNO values in the memory card but no correspondent value in the study website on the same day.
Association between adherence and prednisone tapering
The cumulative sparing of prednisone equivalent in 6 months was (median (25th-75th percentile)) 307.4 (-73.8 to 789.5) mg. Adherence scores were positively related to the dose of spared prednisone over six months with r= 0.51 and p=0.001. Every 10% increase in the adherence level was associated with an additional 264 mg cumulative tapering of prednisone (Figure 2).

Legend figure 2. This figure shows the significant association between spared dose of prednisone in the 6 months study period and adherence to the internet monitoring strategy. Spared dose of prednisone is the difference between the expected cumulative dose (daily dose at study entry multiplied by the number of days in the study) and the actual cumulative dose. For the calculation of the actual cumulative dose we used the dose registered daily on the website by each patient.
