as a reference for normal values are published in a large study performed by Varni et al. including 9500 healthy children, having a mean HRQoL score of 82.70 (± 15.40). 16 The difference in total HRQoL between our sample size and the healthy population from Varni et al. was calculated using a two-sample t-test with Welch’s correction, which is appropriate for when two samples have unequal variances and unequal sample sizes. Differences in HRQoL scores between independent samples of children (for example between NI and NN children) were calculated using the independent samples t-test.
To correct for incomplete data on HRQoL scores (in case caregivers did not completely fill out the questionnaire in one or multiple subdomains) we used multiple imputation to create 20 complete datasets. 17 Variable groups were used to predict missing values in the imputation model.
