CURRICULUM VITAE
Laurens Bollen was born in Amsterdam on January 22nd 1984. In 2002 he graduated from the Barlaeus Gymnasium and, after two years of law school, started medical school at the Leiden University Medical Center in 2004. After his final internship at the department of orthopaedic surgery at the LUMC and graduating medical school in 2011, he started as a PhD-researcher on the topic of spinal metastases under supervision of prof. dr. R.G.H.H. Nelissen and prof. dr. P.D.S. Dijkstra. This resulted in several papers, which were also presented at national and international medical conferences. At the 2013 meeting of the International Society Of Limb Salvage (ISOLS) he was awarded the Alberghini award for the best oral presentation and in 2014, he received the Dutch Spine Society (DSS) annual award for the best Dutch publication related to the spinal column. In 2014 he worked as a resident in orthopaedic surgery at the Medical Center Alkmaar, before starting his specialization in radiation oncology in 2015 at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam, under supervision of prof. dr. L.J.A. Stalpers.
