To my dear Nicoleta and Anouk, you have been my constant companions during my PhD journey. Thank you for the wonderful conversations over coffee or lunch. I miss you both.
To my Psych friends: Asuman, Mariko, Francesca, Linda, Gessa, Reine, Ficke – thank you so much for the time and interest in my research. Our conversations have helped me a lot in conceptualizing my studies.
I also would like to express my gratitude to my EUR family: Jeroen, Sanne, Julia K., Julia dV., Joep, Evelien, Eveline, Indira, Mélodine, Delia, Ana, Anne vE., Anne S., Anne-Mette, Hoan, Irene, Deborah, Mike, Amanda, Noemi, Yijing,Vidhi, Lei, Qiong, Isabel, Jacco, Sven, Payal, Erik, Marc, Simone, Aleid, Tonny, Marco, Jason, Jay, Elisabeth, Teresa, Annemarie, João, Alex, Zouhair, Karen, Arno, Bernadette, and Ruud. I especially would like to thank Susanne for giving me the chance to be a part of the department. Your leadership is truly admirable. It was truly a great experience to have been a part of the Media and Communication Department of EUR. You guys rock!
To my new UvA family: Thank you very much for the very warm welcome. Dear Hans and Jessica, I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing Department. It is truly a big honor!
To these scholars, I am very thankful for your time and academic input at different points in my PhD trajectory: Ivar Vermeulen (p-hacking), Rinaldo Kühne (measurement invariance), Andreas Goldberg (SEM analysis), Jacek Buczny (anything about statistics!), Joep Hofhuis ( sojourners and adjustment), Alwin Aguirre (Filipino migration and social media).
To Prof. Harry Ganzeboom – you are one of the main reasons why I am able to complete my PhD. Thank you for your time and expertise! With your advice, you have given an exciting twist and direction to my analyses. Thank you for your mentorship. You were really intimidating in the beginning, but you are actually a very encouraging collaborator. You pushed me to work harder and become more confident of my statistical skills.
Being an international student, I know how it is like to be physically separated from my closest, dearest friends. I would say that in my case, I have always had support from them through face-to-face visits and yes, CMC. I am grateful to all of them for being there for me, and for still making me a part of their lives despite the distance. To my constant chatmates: Eric, Ton, Jay, Rae – Mahal ko kayo, alam nyo ‘yan!; To my HS/college girlfriends: Karina, Angge, Florence, Elei, Sly, Elena, Ting, Kei, Tracy, Cybele, Lizz,Trina - thank you for making sure I am never homesick. To my echo chamber: Richard, Mark, Jay, and Karina – thank you for the safe space
