 Implications
The finding that therapist training seems to be related to outcome, is a reminder that proper training for staff is essential in order for being able to deliver the original treatment to its full potential.
Conclusion
This meta-analysis shows that, despite progress in development of new psycho- logical treatments, the efficacy of psychological treatment over control condition could not be established. Although no indication for publication bias was found, the number of low-quality studies and the high heterogeneity reduces the strength of the evidence. More high-quality, homogeneous data are needed for firm conclusions regarding the efficacy of psychological treatment for anorexia nervosa to be drawn.
