 from bariatric surgery, while other hospitals do not regard the presence of a binge eating disorder to be an exclusion criterium. Nowadays, literature suggests that it is more beneficial to offer behavioral interventions after surgery, rather than preoper- atively, so the focus of attention has shifted to postoperative screening and treatment (Sheets et al., 2015). Post operatively, it is possible to identify patients who are expe- riencing suboptimal weight loss and/or are struggling with the (re) occurrence of disturbed eating behavior and offer more personalized interventions. In addition, as presurgical eating disorder pathology can resolve as consequence of surgery, offer- ing pre-operative interventions may be redundant.
